Announcement of the winners
The EFIC Sub-Committee on Research selected the winners of the EFIC-Grünenthal Grant 2010 from a total of 45 applications.
Most of the applications were of very high standard and the Committee
decided to support 8 research projects (grants of 25,000 € each).
The winners are:

stimulation (tDCS) using ultra-high field functional magnetic resonance

uncovering genes underlying pain sensation. - Andreas SIEGENTHALER, Switzerland
Linking altered central pain processing and genetic polymorphism to drug
efficacy in chronic low back pain. - Stefano TAMBURIN, Italy
Pain Sensory Profiles in Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain. - Nurcan ÜÇEYLER, Germany
Investigation of the cerebral neuronal activity in pain-related brain areas of
patients with fibromyalgia syndrome and interleukin-4 deficiency using nearinfrared
spectroscopy. - Abraham VALKENBURG, Netherlands
Pain sensitivity of children with Down’s syndrome: Is it really different?
The winners will officially be informed by e-mail by the E-G-G Administration in the
next few days and their projects will be published on the web site soon.
The presentation of Award Winners will be arranged at the occasion of the Opening
Ceremony of the EFIC® Congress ‘PAIN IN EUROPE VII’, taking place in Hamburg,
Germany from 21st – 24th September 2011.
We would like to thank all applicants for their highly interesting projects, but
unfortunately it was not possible to support all of them.
The next call for applications for the 2012 EFIC Grünenthal Grant will be announced
by end of this year.
